The star of Saturday evening – the 2011 Pavie Macquin Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé. It feels like it’s just in the beginning of its drinking window but it already displays great balance between fruit, tannins and acidity. I can only describe it as dark berries and ripe red fruit with a touch of black currant packed in a vibrant mouthwatering juice that has a slight silkiness to it and a nice grip. Very pleasant to drink!
